January has gone and here we are, in the month of February. So, are there any delicious holidays coming our way? You bet there is! Once again Sloth has gathered together some of the tastiest food holidays and some GIFT IDEAS and neat T-SHIRTS to go for these holidays in February.
Shall we get to our list of February holidays directly dedicated to food?
February 2 – Le Jour des Crêpes (France)
Holy crepe! That would be the most appropriate thing to say from the morning until the evening of 2nd of February. Reason for that is simple; the French are celebrating a day dedicated to crepes – our favorite kind of pancakes. Celebrating this glorious day is just as easy as mixing up some flour, eggs, and milk. Bon appetit, you crepeaholics!
February 3 (first Saturday of the month) – Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day
Today we forget about eggs and bacon. Screw them cereals! Porridge, hell no! Today our cornerstone for an awesome day will be ice cream, and no one can stop us. As Sloth is currently on some kind of a diet, we have to settle with some sorbet (which is still going to be great). All those who are not keeping an eye on the calorie intake, find yourself the creamiest guilt-inducing ice cream there is!
February 4 – Stuffed Mushroom Day
Today is the day we get stuffed with stuffed mushrooms – that’s some good stuff right here. So what exactly will taste good when stuffed in a mushroom? The answer is simple – everything you enjoy already. Sloth will probably go for some bacon and blue cheese. Also, we’re considering a tasty combination of some spicy chorizo and tomatoes.
February 5 – National Chocolate fondue day / World Nutella Day
Oh boy, how about the amount of chocolate on this glorious day? Now, there are two chocolaty holidays celebrated today. First one is dedicated to chocolate fondue so stock up on chocolate, melt it and dip some fruits into that molten awesomeness. The second holiday today is dedicated to our favorite faux-chocolate, the hazelnut wonder, the greatest dessert of all time (some might say) – NUTELLA!
February 9 – National Pizza Day / National Bagel and lox day
This one is huge because there’s probably only 0,0000001% of the earth’s population who don’t like pizza. Let’s have a moment of silence for those lost souls before we dig into our sun-yellow cheese covered pizza discs.
But wait! There’s something going on for those people who don’t enjoy pizza. In some parts of the world, February 9th is also known as a Bagel and lox day. Salmon, cream cheese, and fresh bagels sound really nice; you have to agree up to some point. Sloth is still going for a pizza :).
February 18 – National Drink Wine Day
Should we really give any further thought about the essence of this holiday? Probably not. Just open up your favorite wine and don’t forget to drink responsibly.
February 20 – Cherry Pie Day
Crispy bottom and a topping of heavenly ripe cherries. That’s as close as it gets to a dessert heaven (If you happen to adore cherries and pies). Bake it or buy it, doesn’t matter much until you eat at least one juicy slice of cherry pie today.
If you’re in need of a soundtrack for this day, HERE it is (listener’s discretion is advised).
February 23 – International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day
Today let’s celebrate a holiday with our four-legged barking friends. Make it special for your doggo and give him/her a biscuit even without tricks or bringing you a pair of slippers while barking some Mozart. If you don’t have a dog, don’t let this day go to waste and treat yourself with a dog biscuit. Beware, some people really enjoy snacking on these themselves, so don’t get yourself addicted.
February 26 – Pistachio day
Sloth is glad to see that people have decided to have a day to celebrate one of the greatest nuts – oh so tasty pistachio! So, what can be done with these nutty delights? How about bread, cookies, ice cream, sauces, snacks, soups and so much more. And then there’s arguably the best way to eat pistachios – without anything, just roasted nuts and few pinches of salt to give them just the right taste.
Sloth hopes all of you are going to have a tasty February. Don’t forget to leave some space for March ;).
