Flaxseed Waffles – The Breakfast Of Champions
August happens to accommodate the National Waffle Day. So, on 24th of August ready your waffle irons and be prepared to worship the almighty god of golden waffles. Of course, there’s no wrong time when it comes to healthy flaxseed waffles. Therefore you don’t have to wait until the end of the August, feel free to start right away.
This post is about a healthier option than your regular wheat flour waffles. Gluten free flax seeds, rice flour, and oat flour should take care of that. What also seems to be missing is white sugar. Maple syrup and applesauce stepped up gladly for that role. The ingredients listed in the recipe gave us about 12 medium-small sized waffles which are perfect for four regular waffle fans ore one waffle superfan.

- 3 tbsp Flaxseed Ground
- 8 tbsp Water
- 6 tbsp Rice flour
- 1.5 cups Oat flour
- 3 tbsp Baking powder
- 1 tbsp Cinnamon
- 3 cups Almond milk Add more almond milk in case batter gets too thick
- 1/4 cup Apple sauce Unsweetened
- 8 tbsp Maple syrup
First, mix together flax seed and water. The result should be a mixture with paste-like structure.
Mix together all the wet ingredients.
Mix together all the dry ingredients.
Little by little start mixing dry and wet ingredients while stirring. When dry and moist ingredients are combined, add the flaxseed paste as well.
Grease the waffle iron using soft room temperature butter or cooking oil spray.
Bake the waffles until golden brown.
Serve the waffles with whipped cream, yogurt, fresh fruits, or berries – the choice is yours.
